5th, 12th and 19th May | Online Workshops

Schedule:

5th May: Part 1 of the workshop will cover the basics of note names, pitch relationships, intervals, and interval classes
 
12th May: Part 2 will examine the structure behind western tonal centers, including major and minor scales and keys, the Circle of Fifths, and key relationships
 
19th May: Part 3 puts it all together to build chords, understand and interpret pop chord notation, and combine chords into progressions.

Understanding Music Theory

Bring your music knowledge to the next level with “Understanding Music Theory”. The series covers all of the fundamental concepts of Music Theory – no note-reading required! This 3-part workshop series addresses concepts from naming notes all the way through to harmonic progressions.

Scott Horsington holds the Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University and the Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management from SUNY Brockport. He has served as an adjunct lecturer at SUNY Brockport since 2012, teaching Music Theory, Introduction to Music, and World Music, and directs the Brockport College-Community Orchestra and  Brockport Concert Band.
