
Uziel Colón is an accomplished instrumentalist from San Juan, Puerto Rico whose remarkable talent has earned him a well-respected name around the world. His credentials include working as a pianist, composer, arranger and producer for record-label and indie artists alike, and he has also composed, arranged and produced music for various television shows and commercial jingles. As a writer and contributor, Uziel authored articles for music publications in the United States and Latin America, and as a bi-coastal higher education professional, Uziel has taught multiple courses in Jazz Theory, Interpretation and Composition. As Awards Department Genre Manager at the Recording Academy, Uziel currently works with music on an executive level. In his 20-year career, the faculty within his dense capacity has afforded him performances and experiences all around the world throughout Latin America, Asia and Africa.
As a young piano protégée, Uziel was recruited by the Berklee College Summer Program in San Juan, Puerto Rico and offered a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. An exceptional fledging pianist, Uziel went on to earn a Bachelor of Music in Composition in 2003. Upon graduation, he enhanced his Jazz Studies by taking private lessons with the legendary Charlie Banacos.
As a performer, Uziel’s talent ranges from brilliant piano improvisations in Latin jazz to commercial pop, from contagious rhythms of salsa to the soulful sounds of gospel.
In 2012, Uziel completed a Masters of Music in Music with a concentration in Music Production & Film Scoring and currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.
